The chemical change which occurs on the walls is as follows -

• The slaked lime is actually calcium oxide which is mixed or slaked into the water. The calcium oxide is soluble in water.

• But after the complete chemical reaction of slaked lime,the calcium hydroxide is formed which is insoluble in water. That's why the product on the wall is also insoluble in the water .The calcium hydroxide is completely formed after the application on the walls.

• The chemical equation of this chemical reaction is

CaO + H2O ---> Ca(OH)2

This is a combination reaction (A+B = AB).
