Never make your assumptions on the word greatest or least.
If you have to find an unknown number that divides some other number then it is a H. C. F. based question because factors divide.
If you have to find a number which on getting divided by some other number gives some data, then it is a L. C. M. based question because multiples get divided.
Do not base your assumption on greatest or least. Just understand whether you need to find the divided number or the number that divides because factors divide the other number and multiples get divided.
