two slits are used in young's double slit experiment to maintain the coherence of the source . Also to get a clear view of the fringes .
Now , if we use two sources instead of one without using slits ,then the interference pattern obtained is not clearly visible to us ,and we can't be able to differentiate properly between the dark and the bright fringes.
That's why young uses slits in order to make two sources from one source to decrease the variations in the fringes . As two different sources may have different variations at a particular instant but a single source will provide same variations at that instant and hence a good viewed pattern is obtained.
