Sub: Request to stop cruelty towards stray dogs
Dear Sir,
This is to bring to your notice the atrocious behaviour of some children towards stray dogs in our locality. The dogs are very docile and neither bother anyone nor bite them. But the children who play in the colony throw stones at them and chase them for fun.
Yesterday I saw a bunch of kids catching hold of a dog and pulling its tail and hurting it badly. The parents of those children did not attempt to stop them but kept encouraging the children. When I interfered finally, some of the parents abused me and told me to mind my own business.
I request you to kindly look into the matter and inform the animal welfare association to take action. I assure my whole-hearted cooperation in this matter.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Ms. Aalya Sawant

Subject: Residents’ apathy towards stray dogs
Sir:
I am writing to your good self to bring to your kind notice the cruel attitude of some of the residents towards the stray dogs in our locality. I became very upset when last week I saw some people teasing stray dogs on the road. They were sitting in the cool shade of trees, when some residents began shooing them away. These dogs are not stray and dangerous to the people of our locality in any manner. They have become kind of pet dogs of the locality as many people feed them. At night these dogs watch our houses and start barking whenever any stranger intrudes. Can’t these animals be just left on their own?
The other day I was reading an article on internet. I came to know that cruelty against animals is illegal in our country! According to the Constitution of India: “It is the fundamental duty of every citizen of India to have compassion for all living creatures. Article 51A (g).” There is another law that says, “To kill or maim any animal, including stray animals, is a punishable offence. IPC Sections 428 and 429.” I feel a notice should be written at the community hall making people aware about the same.
I appeal to you to look into the matter and do something for these innocent dogs.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
Raman Singla
