HEY FRIEND,

here is your answer....

=============================

Yes, the purpose of elections in a democracy and a non-democracy is quite different.
In a democracy it is compulsory as democracy is a government by the people. But in a non democracy it may be a formality to show some importance to the citizens, so that they may not go against the government..

They may be same or different and in an undemocratic country country it is on the ruler for which purpose he is helding election.Usually in an undemocratic the elections are not free and fair dirty tricks are used to win it or the elections are not held only formalities are completed. It is different from elections of country like India. But country like china is said democratic but then also npc(national people congress) party doesn't have fear to lose. From very long course of time patry is only forming its government. So it is democratic but the purpose is as same as an undemocratic country's election. i.e. to win an election any how.
