Helen Keller met Anne Sullivan when she was 6 year old, 3 months before her 7th birthday.

Helen could tell from the floor of activity in the house that something unusual was about to happen. Helen held out her hand comma and instead of a mother taking it, someone else did. That turned out to be miss Sullivan, her new teacher. Anne embrace her.

Annie gave Helena doll, and after she had played with it for a while she spelled the sign language for doll into her hand. Helen enjoyed and copied the motion, even though she did not understand that she was spelling words.
