Question :-

  • In a temple, there are 50 cylinder pillars. The radius of each pillar is 12 cm and height is 4 cm. Find the cost of painting the curved surface area of pillars at the rate of rupees 6 per m².

Answer :-

Given :-

  • Number of cylinderical pillars = 50
  • Radius of pillar (r) = 12 cm
  • Height of pillar (h) = 4 cm

To Find :-

  • The cost of painting the curved surface area of pillars at the rate of rupees 6 per m².

Formula used :-

{\red{ \boxed{\small{\bold\green{Curved \:  Surface  \: Area _{(Cylinder)}\: = 2 \pi r h }}}}} \:

where,

  • r = radius of cylinder
  • h = height of cylinder

Solution :-

Radius of pillar, r = 12 cm

Height of pillar, h = 4 cm

Curved Surface Area of 1 pillar = 2  π r h

{\red{ \boxed{\small{\bold\green{Curved \:  Surface  \: Area _{(Cylinder)}\: = 2 \pi r h }}}}} \:

On substituting the values of r and h, we get

\bf\:Curved  \: Surface \:  Area = 2 \times \dfrac{22}{7}   \times 12 \times 4

\bf\implies \:Curved  \: Surface \:  Area =  \dfrac{2112}{7}  \:  {cm}^{2}

So, Curved Surface Area of 50 cylinderical pillars

\bf\implies \:\dfrac{2112}{7}  \times 50

\bf\implies \:\dfrac{105600}{7}  \:  {cm}^{2}

\bf\implies \:\dfrac{105600}{7}  \times \dfrac{1}{10000}  {m}^{2}

\bf\implies \:\dfrac{10.56}{7}  {m}^{2}

Now, The cost of painting the curved surface area of pillars at the rate of rupees 6 per m²

\bf\implies \:\dfrac{10.56}{7}  \times 6

\bf\implies \:₹ \: 9.05
