While handling a concentrated mineral acid such as concentrated sulphuric acid, concentrated nitric acid or concentrated hydrochloric acid, one should always use gloves and glass droppers with great care. As concentrated nitric acid s an extremely strong oxidizing agent, heavy-duty gloves such as butyl rubber gloves should be used while handling it.
While diluting a concentrated acid, the acid must be slowly added into water and not vice-versa. The slow addition of concentrated acid into water prevents sudden boiling or splattering of the solution as the heat produced is evenly distributed throughout the water as concentrated acids are denser than water.
