Yes this is true, as this is an one of the advantages of having a multi party system.As the no of political parties increases ( not necessary on national level) this will show that how deep our and vibrant our democracy is. Having large no of regional or state parties helps as these types of party have a proper knowledge about the state or region they belong too and in some cases could be better option than some national parties ( you can take the example of southern states). These type of parties may not win any large no of seats in elections or will not be as famous as National Parties but they still thrive in India as their polices are best suited for the region they are contesting from.

Most of these types of party come together to form an alliance with bigger parties like NDA(Rightist) and UPA(Leftist) which helps in strengthening our democracy.

is India is a federal state some more reason parties mean more influence of state parties in National politics 1989 there is was very much influence of Congress party in the political square of our country that time the political party was ruling in the centre sometimes used in emergency power to abolish the state government in order to stabilize its own party government now Regional parties have in the political policies as they win in election their states in the present political scenario no single national party has been able to form government Indian National Congress has its own Alliance that is United progressive Alliance UPA and BJP has its own Alliance that is NDA National democratic Alliance this has boarded the concept of popular participation and strengthen the Federation and democracy in our country.
