Urbanisation does bring in its fair share of problems. The major two are displacement of the less fortunate from their places of residence and livelihood to make way for high-rise buildings or urban facilities and migration of rural population to urban centres in the hope of finding better employment opportunities. While the first issue needs to be planned in advance by making alternative provisions, the second needs to be tackled very judiciously. Migration into cities can be prevented by improving the rural economy; certain allowance, however, has to be made for this kind of migration as certain jobs would require to be filled up by the rural poor.
