The initial tension in the wire will be 90 N.

  • Let the initial tension be T.
  • Let the final tension be T'.

Now, given

  • T' = T + 5Kg wt
  • So, T' = T + 50 N
  • We know that fundamental frequency,

       f = 1/2L * √(T/u)

So,

  • f ∝ √ T

  • Also, f'/f = 2/3

Hence,

  • f'/f = √(T'/T) = 2/3

squaring both the sides,

  • T'/T = 4/9

Hence,

  • (T+ 50)/T = 4/9
  • So, T = 90 N.
