These words by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, will forever remain etched in our history. After a century of struggle and being ruled by the British – India was claiming the freedom we always deserved. Men, women and children rejoiced to call this land their own for the first time. And today, we must ask: Are we respecting the struggle of our forefathers and mothers? Are we valuing this freedom, and understanding that we, as citizens, have a responsibility towards the nation too? I don’t want to speak about the past today, I want to speak about the future. I want to speak about 4 responsibilities that will help us value this Independence.
