Explanation:
Independent India was born 75 years ago. Compared to its counterpart the nation has seen a lot of progress. From being a colonized third world country India has emerged as a world leader on many fronts. Today the nation is recognised as one of the major powers in the world, this is primarily because of India's self-reliance and integrity.
It is true that the political system within India is extremely corrupt. However, it is commendable that the nation has been able to make progress despite the corruption. Connectivity has improved greatly, as has the electricity supply to villages in far flung rural areas. Government initiatives coupled with research, waivers and the current attempt at removing middlemen, has enabled farmers to get better prices for their produce. This has empowered villages to effectively contribute to the economy of the nation.
Improved standards of education, and greater access to the internet have contributed to greater innovation. As more and more citizens are empowered through education, they in turn empower the nation by reducing the country's dependence on other nations. The focus has shifted to the ‘Make in India’ campaign. This has helped India steadily establish itself as a self-reliant country.
India's integrity and self-reliance are also evident from how India conducts itself at the international level. India is friends with other nations, has economic ties with many others, but is not indebted to any nation. It has enough integrity to be able to take a neutral stand on any political development across the world. India has a voice of its own and is not a slave to any other country.
Considering these aspects, it is evident that India has come a long way from being a colony exploited by the British, to being an independent nation keen on cementing its identity.
