Judiciary is the organ that protects the law and order.
An independent judiciary is the one that is free from the control of the government and is not answerable to the government.
This is necessary for democracy as a democracy can function only with the agreement of all the people of the country; and if the judiciary were answerable the the government, it would completely destruct the meaning of law; as the government would play with it in their favour
Hope this helps!
