Hey dude.....

=>Refractive index, also called index of refraction, measure of the bending of a ray of light when passing from one medium into another....

Thanks ❤️⛈️❤️

Answer:

I will explain you in simple words okay

The bending of light when it passes from one medium to another

Explanation:

If you won't understand this concept then it would be quite difficult for you to answer the questions related to this concept So I would like to explain deeply

Let's take can example

If light is passing through air add when it strikes on another surface like glass so it would bend

Now you would be like how?

So my friend as you know Air is a matter in which atoms are not arranged compactly , Where as in glass atoms are arranged very compactly here airNow is Rare medium and Glass is a Dense medium

(Very important point that light never change its speed it doesn't like to be early nor to be late it will always maintain its speed)

Now light is moving in a straight line in air with its constant speed but glass is an obstacle which the light is gonna cross Now would it change its speed the answer is NO so how would it reach its destination on in a proper time it would take a shortcut Now you would be like which short ?

It would bend towards the normal Now you would be like why towards the normal? So your answer to this question is it would not take much time to reach its destination ,now you can take this inverse case in Dense to Rare medium think and try to answer

Now hope your doubt is clear

So would have understood what refractive index is in easy language ' To measure that particular bending of light which has bend after changing its medium'

Hope it helps you dear
