The leaders of Indian freedom struggle thought of a system in which everyone would be treated equally. They wanted a government which would be sensitive to people's needs and demands. These dreams of freedom fighters were given a concrete form in the constitution of independent India, which adopted the Parliamentary form of democracy based on the principle of Universal Adult Franchise.
