India and Bangladesh has joined hand for the conservation of which species

India and Bangladesh have joined hands for the integrated conservation of the rare spectacled langur.

These langurs are found in the Patharia Hills Reserve Forest, which is located near the border of the two countries in the Karimganj district of Assam's Barak Valley. India and Bangladesh have decided to work together for the conservation of rare species. Under this conservation effort, to save the existence of these langurs in the Patharia Hills Reserve Forest, their habitat is to be preserved. Along with this, awareness campaign has to be spread among the people of the surrounding areas, so that they avoid destroying the forest and there is no danger on these rare creatures.

The langur with is known as the ‘Chasme vala bandar’ that has white spectacle like patches around the eyes, which look like specs on the face of the langur. This rare species of langur is found in large numbers in the Patharia Reserve Forest. This reserve forest is spread over about 7 thousand hectares near the border of India and Bangladesh.
