➡They were enunciated in the preamble to the "Agreement (with exchange of notes) on trade and intercourse between Tibet Region of China and India", which was signed at Peking on 28 April 1954.

This agreement stated the five principles as: Mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

✔It was done for peaceful coexistence between the two countries ✔✔✔✔

Panchsheel pact was signed between India and China mainly because of Nehru. In his view,

  1. China and India were two oldest civilizations of world with glorious history.
  2. Both were the top two populated nation of world facing similar problems like poverty, drought, illiteracy etc.
  3. At that time, major population of both countries were dependent on agriculture.
  4. In 1947, India got freedom from British Raj and became Republic of India in 1950. Around same time, in 1950, China transformed itself into a single party communist nation.
