India class 80% of the students passed in the annual examination if the number of students failed is 40 what is the total number of students appeared in the examination plz help easy method ​

The number of students who fail in percentage = 100% - 80% = 20%

so, easiest method is unitary method

20% = 40 students

1% = 40/20

80% = 40/20 × 80

∴ 160 students appeared in Examination
