By direct democracy, it is meant that all decisions of the goverances are voted upon and decided by all the citizens of the country. In a country of the size of India, given its big population, and extreme complexity, if such a system were ever adopted, I can say with certainty that nothing would ever be decided. That is why we have a representative democracy. Honestly speaking even in the representative democracy that we follow, the opinions of only a few MPs matter and rest have the satisfaction of giving speeches and advice which government may take note of or ignore.

Problems of India in facing direct democracy :-

1) Population :- India is densely populated country.

So , it is physically impossible for people to sit together

in a place .

2) Work :- There are various jobs of people .All jobs are not same thus they may not have free time at any interval .

3) Opinion :- Many people may have same opinion but some may not . So , it would not be beneficial for a lot of people following same ideology to sit and make decisions rather their representative can do so .

Conclusion :- In India , Direct democracy does not suit .Thus representative democracy is required here .
