There are two main estates , legislature and executive , which support each other and collectively do their work.Parliament is a superior body from which legislation takes place and cabinet is formed. In India we have president as head of the state and armed forces, while Prime minister being leader of the house and head of cabinet.Cabinet makes laws and executive tries to implement them.

These makes Indian government a parliamentary one. One more superficial thing is it's democratic.
