yea India is a secular state.

first of all, what's a secular state?

a secular state is a state where there's no official religion. a state where religious and political life is separated officially.

In India, religion doesn't play any role in law making. there's no official or state religion in india. no one can be discriminated on the basis of his/her religion. any citizen of India has right to practice any religion and can change their religion if they wish.

moreover, the government in India can't give any special rights to a specific religion. everyone has equal freedom in religious matters.

that's why, India is considered a secular state.
