Because in India the state does not follow any religious path, maintains distance from all sects, it does not promote any religion in any form, and does not harm any religion, it is secular state.

India is a secular state because everyone has the freedom to follow their religion ad all the religions are treated equally in the court of law.  

Secularism of India has made it one of the most diversified nations and people from different religion lives here together in peace and harmony.
