A country is a part of a larger continent which is geographically connected with the main continent.
But when a country becomes successful to gain an independent geographical or political identity in it's continent, then the country is known as a sub-continent of the main continent.
Similarly,in the Asian continent, India has it's own diverse geographical and political characteristics which made India a sub-continent of the main Asian continent.
