The Constitution declared India as the association of states and the Indian union is formed on the law of holding together federalism. Therefore, India was distributed into states in order to serve the principles of federalism. For example, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal are termed as states. however, some of the regions are extremely small to be considered as an autonomous state, hence, these areas are designated as Union Territories because they are administered by the central government. For example, Chandigarh, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Delhi.
