India appears to have taken a step back from its 2018 World Environment Day pledge to phase-out all single-use plastic by 2022. Recent announcements on phasing out single use plastics have not made any mention of the plan to eliminate single-use plastics by 2022 opting instead for the more indefinite “in the coming years”.
The government has not put in place a clear roadmap with timelines to meet the 2022 deadline for eliminating single-use plastics.
