one such factor is latitude. tropic of cancer almost divides the country in two equal parts from rann of kuchh to mizoram. the region lying south of the tropic of cancer is tropical where as the region in north is subtropical. therefore,india receives both tropical as well as subtropical climate.

(i) The Tropic of Cancer passes through the middle of India from the Rann of Kuchh in the west to Mizoram in the east.

(ii) Almost half of the country, lying south of the Tropic of Cancer, belongs to the tropical area. All the remaining area, north of the Tropic, lies in the sub-topics.
