Answer/Explanation:

India climate:

India’s climate is broadly described as “monsoon climate”, experiencing rainfall mostly brought by the monsoon winds as it is located in the tropical region.

Climatic seasons of India:

India’s climate is characterised by four main climatic seasons. These are:

• Cold Weather Season (Winter) December to February

• Hot Weather Season (Summer) March to May

• Southwest Monsoon Season (Rainy) June to September

• Season of Retreating Monsoon (Autumn) October and November

1- Cold Weather Season (winter):

During the winter season, cool, dry winds blow from the north to the south preventing direct sun’s rays to reach the region and lowers the temperatures drastically during the months of December to February

2-  Hot Weather Season (Summer):

During the hot season, the sun’s rays are more directly experienced. Temperatures drastically increase and hot dry wind called “loo” blow during the day in the month of March to May.

3- Southwest Monsoon Season (Rainy):

During this season, warm moist winds blow from the Arabian  Sea and the Bay of Bengal. These ascend and condense into rainfall during the months of June to September.

4- Retreating Monsoon (Autumn) :

During this season, Winds move back from the mainland to the Bay of Bengal causing rainfall to the southern parts of India, particularly Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Factors influencing/ Affecting climate of India:

Like any other place, India’s climate is affected by four main factors. These are:

1- Location 2- Altitude  3- Distance from the sea, and 4. Relief.

The location of a place results into regional differences in climatic conditions in India. For example, Jaisalmer and Bikaner in the desert of Rajasthan are very hot, while Drass and Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir are freezing cold. Coastal places like Mumbai and Kolkata experience moderate climate but due to close proximity from the sea, they are very humid. Mawsynram in Meghalaya receives the world’s highest rainfall but Jaisalmer in Rajasthan do not register a single drop of rain in some years.

hope it helps
