India's first elephant rehabilitation centre is to be set up in Kottoor, Kerala. It is being planned on the lines of the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka. Rehabilitation centre is aimed at providing protection to abandoned, orphaned, injured and older elephants.
