In olden times..there were only Hindu people's were used to like in country...soo..It was Hindustan..i.e, home of Hindus

But after entry of British,, due to their different accssent they were unable to pronounce Hindustan...they used to pronounce Industan.

And this Industan slowly slowly became Indu=Indis=Indias...after INDIA
