India's growing influence around the Globe

The Indian super giant seems to be taking the world by storm with the elephant's clout getting stronger and stronger every moment. It has been more than sixty years since the chains of enslavement were broken but now this sleeping giant is making its presence felt around the globe. Any major issue in this world today deserves and more specifically requires an Indian connection to be dealt with and sorted out in a complete manner. Though this seems to be an exaggeration but it seems that the day is not far when India will be the winning stallion leading the host of nations around the globe.

The glorification of India is not a question of mere rhetoric but in actuality there are a number of facts to substantiate this flowery glorification of our motherland. India is today regarded as an economic superpower. India's economic prowess has been making the headlines since a couple of years in most of the developed nations of the world. Even in the present scenario of economic slowdown and financial chaos India seems to be one of the least affected countries over the world by the economic downturn. India's latest addition to the G-20 group of nations solely on the basis of economic strength and the latest addition of a former Reserve Bank of India(RBI) governor in a panel formed to contain the present financial turmoil clearly project the Indian leverage in world economics.

The Indian influence is not just confined to the economic sphere. The recent launch of the Indian moon mission 'CHANDRAYAAN' is also symbolic of India's ever growing strength in space technology. The Indian Space Research Organisation has also attained the elite distinction of being among the privileged few space agencies of the world to have launched satellites for foreign nations. Today even the most powerful nations of the world venerate India for its achievements in space research.

The biggest and simply the most vital proof of the growth of Indian hegemony in the global platform is the Indo-US nuclear deal. A nation that had been overwhelmed by sanctions by various nations including the United States of America following the 1998 Pokhran tests has not only been relieved of all sanctions but has attained the unique distinction of the only country to have concluded a civil-nuclear deal with the most powerful nation of the world. This has not only ended the nuclear isolation of the country but has also elevated its status in the global arena.

The Indian military strength is highly acknowledged in the world. In the past few years India has been participating in a number of war games with various world renowned powers magnifying its own prestige as a great military power. Even in the field of defence research and development the country has made great progress with the advanced light helicopters which were indigenously developed by the nation being exported to other countries. The developments in the business world have clearly echoed that Indian business establishments have matured enough to play a decisive role in world business. The unveiling of 'Nano', the world's cheapest car by Tata Industries took the world by storm making headlines on the tabloids of the most powerful nations of the world. Today every survey and every elite list in the business world features Indian business honchos and Indian firms. India has the privilege of having six of the top eight outsourcing destinations of the world and India is considered one of the safest and most lucrative investment destinations of the world.

The Midas-touch of India seems to be working out everywhere, in every field and in every echelon. The recent inclusion of four Indians in newly-elected United States President Barrack Obama's working group is just another superb example emblematic of the growing Indian connection throughout the world. India seems to be taking the lead in a number of world matters in the global platform. The present scenario is clearly a pleasant indicator for our country but a lot still needs to be done. There are various problems to be dealt with at home and abroad before our motherland becomes a world leader in global affairs. A lot of things have to set right and a lot of targets have to be achieved to bolster and maintain the clout that has been achieved till now. If the elephant keeps marching ahead with a clear object-oriented and pragmatic approach then the day will not be far when the elephant will pip the rapidly growing dragon to be one of strongest leaders in the global spectrum.
