Mrs Das turned and kicked him Riight square in his blue Jeaned sitter. Then Mrs Das reached down, picked the boy up by his shirt front, and shook him until his teeth rattled.
After that Mrs Das said '' pick up my purse and give it to me''. She still held him and under capture of Mrs Das the boy was unable to do anything.
''Are not you ashamed of yourself ?'' Mrs Das asked the boy.
Firmly gripped by his shirt front, the boy said ,''Yes Ma'am''.
''Then why you are doing so?'' Mrs Das said the boy angrily.
The boy replied ,''For nothing ma'am.''
''Dont tell me lie'' by saying these words, Mrs Das shook him again.
There were very few people on the road at that time. Only two or three people passed, stopped, turned to look ,and some stood watching.
''If I turn you loose, will you run?'' asked Mrs Das.
''Yes ma'am'' said the boy.
''Then I won't turn you loose,'' said Mrs Das. She did not release him.
The boy was trying to achieve Mrs Das's pardon by saying ,''I'AM sorry madam, very very sorry.''
Mrs Das think a little and then she said,'' I can not Realest you as your face is very dirty. I have got a great idea in that of an occasion.'' Then she started dragging the boy and the boy became very frightened. He was totally confused by her behaviour.
''Are there nobody at your home to tell you to wash your face? asked Mrs Das.
The boy replied,'' No ma'am there is nobody in my home.''
Mrs Das was continuing her dragging the frightened boy behind her. By the time of dragging she looked at the boy for several times. He looked as if he were fourteen or fifteen, tall and thin and grace-full also. He was in tennis shoes and blue jeans. After a few moments Mrs Das said ,''You ought to be my son.I would teach you right from wrong. Least I can do right now is to wash your face. are you hungry?'
''No ma'am'' said the boy '' I just want you to turn me loose.''
"My dear, am I bothering you?'' asked Mrs Das.
The being dragged boy replied ,''No ma'am''.
''Listen son,'' said Mrs Das ,''if you are thinking to escape from myself, remember my name is Nilima Das, a former man''
The boy was now sweating badly and he had no idea what was going on. After a few minutes they reached in front of a five storied flat. Mrs Das was still continuing dragging. When she got to her door ,she dragged the boy inside the room. It was a fair large room and well furnished. There was only a bed, a table and a chair ,a television set and other furnitures. She switched on the light and left the door open. The boy could hear other roomers laughing and talking in the other rooms. Some of their doors were open too. Mrs Das still had the boy by the neck in the middle of her room
Finally she asked the name of the boy. The boy replied ''Tuhin''.
''It is a nice name. However Tuhin go to that sink and wash your face'' said Mrs Das. After that she turned him loose at last. Now Tuhin looked at the door and then looked at Mra Das, and finally he went to the sink. ''Wash your face and hands properly and carefully, there is a towel also.'' Mrs Das added
Tuhin now became comfortable with the atmosphere. Then he asked the Mrs Das ,''Do you want to call the police?''
