Subsistence Agriculture. ... In subsistence agriculture, small-scale farming is primarily grown for consumption by the farmer and their family. Sometimes if there is a surplus of food it might be sold, but that is not common. In commercial agriculture, the primary objective is to make a profit.

(I) Indian farmers did agriculture with ancient methods. That's why their crops were unable to complete with those which were grown with the help of machines. That's why farmers were unable to take maximum advantage out of it.
(ii) A farmers had were to sell his crop in market through middlemen and middlemen took their share as well. It led to less profit for farmers.
