Indian constitution is both rigid and flexible because the procedure of amendment is neither easy nor difficult. it lays down the procedure for choosing persons to govern the country, i.e., about elections. The constitution has provided a federal structure for India. 
The jurisdiction of the centre and states have been defined and demarcated. Both the centre and states have been authorised to exercise powers independently. It defines who will have how much power to take which decision etc.
