Let X be the no.of matches India won against New Zealand.
Let Y be the no.of matches India lost against New Zealand.
=> Total no of matches played by India against New Zealand = X+Y
Given, India won 4 more matches than it lost.
=> X= Y+4.
Also, India won 3/5 of its total matches.
=>X= (3/5).(X+Y)
By substituting X=Y+4,
    Y+4=(3/5).(Y+4+Y)
    Y+4=(3/5).(2Y+4)
    5Y+20=6Y+12
    6Y-5Y=20-12
    Y=8
=>X=Y+4=8+4=12
Total matches played by India= X+Y= 8+12= 20.
