Explanation:

Western Impact on Indian Culture.

How to tackle the growing influence.

Indian Culture, which is one in all the oldest & richest cultures, is now under serious threat as civilization is making its strong base in India and slowly and gradually wiping out the Indian culture. It had already made its presence in Metro’s & now slowly heading towards other parts of India.

Westernization has greatly affected our traditions, customs, our family and our respect and love for others. The concept of joint families is fading fast, and everybody wants to stay aloof. Now nobody is curious about other’s affairs and only cares for himself which is completely contradictory to our Indian culture that teaches us to be an element and parcel of the society, sharing each other’s Joys and sorrows. All our rich values and traditions are slowly dying down, civilization is taking its place. People are blindly following it without knowing the implications.

Westernization has given rise to single families. Marriages are breaking & our tolerance and patience has exhausted. the foremost affected are our new blooms, which have yet to sprout. They find themselves stressed and isolated during this new atmosphere, since there's nobody to require care of them. They no more get the care and love of their Grandparents. They find themselves in crutches to be taken care by others. it's very unfortunate that the new sprouts remain untouched and bring to a halt from our great moral values and sanskaaras. In today’s Scenario both husband & wife are working. there's nobody reception to appear after them and to cultivate the sanskaaras in them since our elders who use to offer these sanskaaras to their grand children are not any longer with them. In many cases it's not deliberate but in majority of cases the kids choose to remain aloof from their parents which is incredibly unfortunate.

There’s no harm in taking goodies from the west, but this doesn't mean that we should always become slave to their culture, and misrepresent our identity. it's understandable that India may be a growing country, so it's necessary of knowing all the cultures and their traditions. To some extent it's fine, but it's wrong to pretend and behave like Westerners and discard our own culture. we've to preserve our identity.

It is shocking to determine that Indians are forgetting their culture. On the contrary

westerners are looking towards Indian spirituality for solving their personal, social and national problems. they're coming to India to seek out peace through Yoga and Meditation. India has earned a decent name within the field of Yoga and Meditation abroad. Our gurus are giving teachings to westerners a way to relax & a way to keep themselves fit and aloof from diseases.

It is very unfortunate that today’s generation has little or no knowledge about their culture, traditions and roots. this is often not their fault but the fault of their parents who don't enlighten them about their roots, rich cultural and heritage. Contradictory to that, Parents feel proud in giving their children western Sanskaras, and that they are noted in western atmosphere. Thus, they're kept miles aloof from Indian culture.

There is no harm in giving knowledge of other cultures and traditions as Indians have made their presence in every a part of world, but it's necessary that they ought to have knowledge of their own culture, traditions and language. we should always also be sure that our new sprouts are well versed with Indian culture and its values. it's the responsibility of fogeys to cultivate our rich culture and heritage in their children.

No doubt the civilization is flexible and teaches self-dependence, but this doesn't mean that we should always forget our culture and blindly follow the westerners. we should always always feel proud that we, the Indians have such a chic cultural heritage which is incredibly rare and will be carried forward and cultivated within the minds of our New blooms who are visiting be our future.

Indian Culture Is Losing Its Roots

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone present here. I am going to expatiate on ‘Indian Culture is Losing its Roots ’. Each country has its own unique culture. The values of culture give direction to our life.

India, our motherland is a land of rich culture and traditions. Culture and traditions were actually made for the convenience of the people in the long past by the then wise people. Traditions are our past. Our joys are associated with the traditions. For example all the festivals that we love celebrating are nothing but traditions. They are an integral part of our society. For example, take any tradition and analyze it; you will find it has many wholesome benefits. For example, take the tradition of going to a temple/mosque/church/or any religious place. It connects us to our roots. As we go to the temple, it makes us realize the supremacy of God; it makes us spiritual. We feel the fatherhood of God and brotherhood of humanity.

Another example is being respectful to elders. Our traditions teach us to be courteous and respectful to our elders, teachers, or any stranger; by being respectful we not only gladden the elders, but also gladden ourselves. They give us many favours in return. For example, they bless us. They teach us. They are always there with their love and care when we need them. We also earn a good image in society and people like to be associated with us.

Another blessing of our family is joint family system. This system is only found in India and some other traditional societies. The so called problem-ridden western societies don’t have joint family systems. As a result, there are no problems such as loneliness, depression, going astray, etc.; by default, the joint family system proves healthy and beneficial in the healthy growth of children and provides them with a wholesome environment.

However, this culture of ours has been exposed to various influences.  Western culture is one of these influences. The western culture has swept over the Indian subcontinent like a tsunami. What is not that has not been affected by it! We have been completely westernized, though we claim we have not been! The two catalysts that have been transforming our culture are IT revolution and media and networking advancement.

Since Western culture is quite open and advanced, there is no restriction on pornographic and obscene channels. However, our culture is based on values of abstinence, self-discipline, and self-control. Such adult channels are really affecting our culture. The westernization process of majority of our youth has already started. Preference for western style of life is visible everywhere. Fast food, western clothes, eating habits, smoking, drinking, going out, pubs, drive-through foods, jeans, etc. all are indicators of the westernization of our culture.

It depends upon us whether we allow ourselves to be influenced by the foreign channels or not. But one thing is sure; if we will be watching foreign channels most of the time every day, it is definitely going to influence our culture. Foreign channels have already influenced our culture a lot. We need to take very careful precautions to preserve our culture in the midst of this onslaught of foreign entertainment and information on the impressionable minds of our children.

The wisest approach should be adopted. We must preserve our rich spiritual culture and allow wise blending of the western culture with it. I think the rich morality taught to us by our traditional oriental culture along with the efficient technological advancement given to us by the occidental culture will produce an ideal new culture whose benefits will be immense for the entire mankind.

So, we must protect and observe the traditions bequeathed to us by our wise forefathers. We can modify certain traditions for the convenience of people as well as according to the demands of current times. We must never ever disrespect and disregard our culture and traditions, for they are for our help, comfort, ease, and happiness.

Thank you.
