By direct democracy, it is meant that all decisions of the goverances are voted upon and decided by all the citizens of the country. In a country of the size of India, given its big population, and extreme complexity, if such a system were ever adopted, I can say with certainty that nothing would ever be decided. That is why we have a representative democracy. Honestly speaking even in the representative democracy that we follow, the opinions of only a few MPs matter and rest have the satisfaction of giving speeches and advice which government may take note of or ignore.
