Indian music has a lot of variety and comes in many languages. In India, we
have classical music, folk music, Hindi films' music, music of films in other
languages, devotional music or bhajans in various languages and
traditional music. We also have semi classical styles of music like ghazals,
thumris, khayals, etc. Classical music is mainly of two types which are
Hindustani and Carnatic. Each of them differ in style and languages
although the seven swaras (saptaswar or sargam) remain the same. The
classical music has a number of ragas. Bhajans are in different languages
and are mainly devotional. Shabads Sufiana, dohas, etc., also generally are
devotional and in praise of the Lord Almighty.
