\bold {\underline{The\ Great\ Indian\ Northern\ Plains}}

The northern plains are plains which are present in the northern part of India. These are plain flat lands which are very fertile with the deposition of alluvial soil which is good for agriculture.

The great northern plain is divided into three divisions-

\bold {1. Punjab-Harayana\ plain}

\bold {2. Ganga\ plain}

\bold {3. Brahmaputra\ plain}

The three rivers, The Ganga, The Brahmaputra and The Indus along with their tributaries provide continuous water supply to these plain regions. And because they are very fertile with the presence of bhangar, khadar, terai etc, they are a site for agriculture. They are also called the Granaries of the country.

There are two main reasons why northern plains are important for the economy of India -

\bold {1. Fertility} - As we discussed above about the fertility of the northern plains because of the deposition of northern plains.

\bold{2.Favorable\ climate} - The climate as well as the service of northern plains is more than the other places. Because these are flatland area which attracts a number of population and vegetation is also good here.

That's why The Great Indian Northern Plains have a great social and economic impact.
