What are the advantages of Indian polity?

1- India polity is a democratic polity and therefore India is the largest ‘functioning’ democracy in the world. ‘Functioning’ means that democratic processes and practices are actually followed and adhered to. In democracy, people have the opportunity to have a responsible and elected government.
2- Indian polity is based on parliamentary form of government, which appears to be more democratic than the Presidential system of government as in the former the executive is responsible to he Parliament and it can be removed through no-confidence motion as and when the executive becomes authoritarian. There is constitutional check and balance between the three organs of the government through the principles of supremacy of the constitution and rule of law.
3-Indian polity prescribes to secularism where people of all faith enjoy equal rights and the government does not discriminate citizens on the basis of religion.
4- India polity, being democratic provides for fundamental rights to people including rights to freedom, equality, religious freedom, cultural rights of minorities, constitutional remedies and so on. These rights are essential for the all round development of citizens. The right to freedom also include freedom to print and electronic media and other forms of communication. You can think of the significance of these freedoms when we compare with Chinese Polity, where citizens do not enjoy freedom of speech
