The surplus of goods and the greater value for exports played a crucial role in the Indian trade in the nineteenth century world.  

To balance the surplus goods trading with other countries started. The profit from this trade was used to pay of the private remittances, interest payments and some external debts of the British official in India.

This also led to the migration of people for the sake of work from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Central India to other countries to work at mines and plantations.
