Answer: In a interview Ustad Bismillah Khan was asked a question that
Shekar Gupta : When Partition happened, didn't you and your family think of moving to Pakistan?
Bismillah Khan : God forbid! Me , Leave Benaras? Never! I went to Pakistan once -- I crossed the border just to say I have been to Pakistan. I was there for about an hour. I said namaskar to the Pakistanis and salaamalaikum to the Indians! I had a good laugh.
And later he had shown much to Benaras and Dumraon and told that the places remain for him as the most wonderful towns of the world. He when a student of his once wanted him to head to the shehnai school in USA, and the student promised to recreate the atmosphere of Benaras by replicating the temples there. But she asked him if he can bring River Ganga as well. He told that he keeps yearning Hindustan.
