Answer: \sqrt{34} m

Explanation:

  • We know when we have to measure the displacement of a body we have to measure the shortest distance between its initial position and its final position.
  • Here, Miss Indiana Jones in order to make her way out of the maze moves 10 m and then takes a 90° turn and moves 5 m and then again takes a 90° turn and moves 7 m.
  • When we represent the graphically we can see that after joining the point of initial position and final position we get a right angle triangle with base 5m and perpendicular 3 m.
  • The hypotenuse will be the displacement.
  • Displacement=\sqrt{3^{2}+5^{2}  }

                               = \sqrt{9+25}

                               = \sqrt{34} m

  • Hence, the displacement will be  \sqrt{34} m.
