Rules to change a sentence from direct to indirect :

⭐ Convey the message given by the first person to the third person is termed as indirect speech.

⭐ The person who conveys is the second person to whom the first person told the compliment or a sentence.

✴ Indirect speech is a report on what someone else said or wrote without using that person's exact words.

Words of direct speech will turn to indirect in the following way :

⭐ Now - Then

⭐ Today - That day

⭐ Last night - previous night

⭐ Said - Told

⭐ Will be - would be

We understand better through examples, here are few :

  • "What time does the supermarket open?", He said.

He asked me at which time the supermarket would open.

  • What is your last name?

May I know what your last name is?

  • Mom said, "Bring the veggies from the nearby supermarket please."

My mom requested me to the bring the veggies from the nearby supermarket.
