The Indus Valley Civilization was one of the oldest civilizations in the world and it was very urbanized. It had an efficient drainage and toilet system. It had roads and streets that ran north-south and east-west giving the cities a perfect orientation. The buildings at the edges of the roads were rounded to allow safe passage of carts. It had many public buildings like the Great Bath. It also had two parts, a lower city and the Citadel, which was where most likely the ruling class lay. At Lothal a dock was found which was used for trade. The cities also had walls to protect from natural disaster.
