inert pair effect is not limited to p-block elements. It does affect transition metals. However, the energy difference between d- and s-electrons is less than between p- and s-electrons, so the effect is less pronounced. –

  1. Inert pair effect not only exist in p-block elements but can also be seen in d-block elements...
  2. But in d-block elements the energy difference between d and s orbital is less..
  3. Where as in p-block elements the energy difference between p and s orbital is little bit more...
  4. Therefore inert pair effect is strong in p-block elements...

cheers..❤❤
