Answer:

The last pair of chromosomes that is, the sex chromosomes determine a person's sex.
Only two types of pairings are possible when it comes to sex chromosomes, the types are :-

  • XX type :- When the X chromosome of the female parent and the X chromosome of male parent constitute the sex chromosome pairs in the developing child's body. This type is the one that leads to the development of female sex organs, female sexual characters and hormones, eventually leading to the foetus becoming a female.
  • XY type :- When the X chromosome of the female parent and the Y chromosome of the male parent constitute the sex chromosome pairs in the child's body. This type is the one that leads to the development of female sex organs, female sexual characters and hormones, eventually leading to the foetus becoming a male.

Explanation:

  1. The Y chromosome has a specific region on it which is popularly  known as the abbreviation, "SRY" which stands for Sex-differentiation Region on Y- chromosome.
  2. The SRY region is responsible for the production of "testes determining factor" (TDF) which is in fact the thing that leads to the formation of testes and male hormones.
  3. There's no such specific region on the X chromosome and X chromosomes by default, code for female sex organs and hormones.
  4. Therefore, it can in fact humorously be concluded that females are preferred by nature.
