Formal is the one which you write to your principals or Boss.but informal are the ones which you write to your friends or close ones.in informal you don't need to write Thank You at the end.you shouldn't introduce yourself or write your address in informal as you are writing it to people who know you.These are the basics u need to know.you can Google the rest if you want.!
