To,

Dear Saniya,

hope so you are fine.I received your last letter.you have requested me to give information about historical monument.

so I would like to give information about gateway of India The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early twentieth-century located in the city of Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The monument was erected to commemorate the landing of the first British monarch in India; King-Emperor George V and Queen-Empress Mary's arrival at Apollo Bunder, Mumbai (then Bombay) on 2 December 1911. Built in the Indo-Saracenic style, incorporating elements of 16th-century Gujarati architecture, the foundation stone for the gateway was laid on 31 March 1911. However, during the royal visit in 1911, the gateway was not yet built and a cardboard structure greeted the monarch. The final design of the monument by architect George Wittet was sanctioned only in 1914, and construction was completed in 1924. The structure is a triumphal arch made of basalt, which is 26 metres (85 feet) high.hope you would like the above information..

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

XYZ.

Answer:

A historical monument is a rich source of history. It gives us a sense of wonder and makes us curious to know more about the past connected with it. The study of a monument helps the students construct history through observation. The activity generates intrest in historical buildings and develops observation skills. It also develops their aesthetic sensibilities and instills an appreciation of elements of architectures and our cultural heritage.
