Dear Vikram,

My apologies for replying to your letter a little late as I was busy in my exams. I hope that you are enjoying your life at the Cambridge English Day Boarding School and this letter finds you in best of spirits. I truly miss our days together.

In your previous letter, you were asking me to suggest a method on how you can improve your general knowledge. It's simple, develop a habit of reading newspapers.

Reading newspaper daily is a habit that can do wonders for you. Newspapers hold great educational value. When you start reading a newspaper daily, you will soon realize that how quickly it will increase your knowledge base. Newspapers carry information on wide ranging topics; from finance, business, and economics to sports and entertainment, you name it and that topic will be in a newspaper. Moreover, it can also give a boost to your vocabulary as well.

I have to do some chores and this is all I can say now. Let me know the experience when you develop this amazing habit, I will be anxiously waiting for your letter.

Yours Lovingly,

X.Y.Z

Dear Brother:

I hope this letter finds you in great health and cheerful state of mind. I have written this letter to advise you to read English newspapers regularly. Unfortunately, in the modern times newspaper reading is dwindling away.   There are many benefits of it. Reading the articulately written articles, reports, etc. in the newspapers improve our vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, writing skills, and imagination. Bacon, the great English writer and thinker has rightly said, “Reading maketh a full man; writing an exact man, and conference a ready man.”

Our general knowledge becomes quite comprehensive. I have been told by mother that you hardly touch the newspaper. You will be glad to know that all the newspapers are available on internet these days; you can read a few newspaper articles there.

I hope you will act upon my advice. The rest is fine. give regards to mother and father and lots of love to you.

Yours affectionately,

Amrit
